You buy the Starlink hardware and plan from Starlink. We install it at the house and stay for the part most antenna jobs skip: making the internet usable on your computers.
Starlink is built for self-install, and the kickstand is fine for a weekend test. A permanent Brisbane home install is different: trees and eaves block the sky, Colorbond and tile roofs need the right mount, and the thick Starlink cable has to reach a sensible router location without leaking or flapping on the fascia.
Home PC Fix is the local McDowall / Brisbane North home IT brand. We check sky view in the Starlink app, mount the dish, route the cable, set up Wi‑Fi, then connect laptops, desktops, printers and accounts so work and school actually run.
We also offer computer repairs, laptop repairs and IT help for home offices — so if the PC was already slow, or Outlook breaks the day Starlink comes online, you are not starting again with a second company.

Do I buy the Starlink kit from Home PC Fix?
No. Order the dish, router and plan direct from Starlink. When the kit arrives (or if it is already sitting in the box), we come to the house and install it. Hardware and monthly fees stay between you and Starlink.
How much does Starlink installation cost?
Starlink installations start from $300 for a standard single-storey home setup. Tall poles, two-storey access, long cable runs, tile roofs, mounts and mesh Wi‑Fi are quoted after we see the property. You approve extras before we proceed. Remote follow-up after the link is online is $88/hr.
Can I install Starlink myself?
Yes — Starlink is designed for self-install. Many households test it on the kickstand or ground mount first. A professional visit is worth it when you want a permanent roof or wall mount, a weatherproof cable into the house, or help choosing a spot that actually clears trees and eaves.
What does a professional install include?
We check sky view with the Starlink app, agree a mount location, fit a suitable mount, route the Starlink cable neatly, set up the router and Wi‑Fi, run a speed check, and connect the household devices you care about (PCs, laptops, printers, phones).
Standard kit or Starlink Mini?
For a fixed Brisbane home, the Standard residential kit is usually the better everyday internet dish. Mini suits travel, caravans, backup or a shed that needs to move. Tell us which kit you have — mounts and cable runs differ.
Will Starlink replace NBN?
Often yes for homes where NBN is unavailable, slow, or unreliable (including many fringe and semi-rural properties). It is not automatically cheaper than a good fibre/HFC plan. We can talk through whether Starlink is a primary link or a backup — we do not sell the Starlink subscription.
Do you only mount the dish?
No. Antenna-only jobs stop at the roof. We also do home Wi‑Fi, printers, computer repairs and small-business / home-office IT on the new connection.
Can you help after install without another visit?
Yes. Once Starlink is online, remote support can cover Wi‑Fi names, device join issues, Outlook/email and many software problems at $88/hr.
What areas do you cover?
McDowall and Brisbane North home visits are the core area — including nearby suburbs on our Areas We Service map. Tell us your suburb when you book.
Apartments and body corporate?
Possible if you have a legal mounting location and a clear sky view. Some buildings restrict roof work. We will say so before drilling. Indoor Wi‑Fi and device setup can still go ahead even if the dish location is limited.
